We live in a world where is cheaper to buy new clothes than it is to take care of the one that you already own. There are many reasons why our clothes don\u2019t last longer, mainly because most of the clothes in the fashion industry is not long lasting and also because the majority of our clothes is made of polyester (plastic derived from fossil fuels).<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\u00b7 Follow the care label instructions<\/strong>
Here you will find just general guidelines. Please, always read the care label to determine the type of fabric: silk, wool, synthetic\u2026 then follow the specific instructions.<\/p>

\u00b7 Wash less<\/strong>
This is the easiest way to make clothes last longer, don\u2019t harm the Earth and save money. It is a win-win-win. Did you know that we should only wash our denim garments once or twice a year? Also, we shouldn\u2019t machine wash knitwear and delicates fibres such as silk and wool, instead we can spot clean when stained or hand-wash them once in a a while.
Wash your clothes only when necessary. There are many ways to maintain clean your garments before throwing them into the washing machine, steaming is our favourite one.<\/p>

\u00b7 Wash cold<\/strong>
To make your clothes last for as long as possible, make 30\u00baC your standard option and reserve higher temperatures for washing soiled, durable textiles, such as\ntowels.<\/p>

Always avoid fabric softener at all costs, it may contain phthalates, which disperse scent;\nsynthetic musks such as galaxolide, which accumulate in the body. This can cause\nallergies and irritations, specially on sensitive skin. What\u2019s more, fabric softeners damage\nfabrics fibres which make them less durable and resistant.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

\u00b7 Hand wash<\/strong>
Washing clothes by hand is by far the most gentle approach. Machine washing can sometimes be harsh on our clothes and can damage the fibers and natural shape of the fabrics.<\/p>

\u00b7 Air dry<\/strong>
There are many ways to dry your clothes, but some may not be as earth-friendly as others. Tumble drying is by far the worst option for the environment, and it won\u2019t help prolonging your garments\u2019 life.<\/p>

The best way to dry your clothes is to let them air dry, sometimes during winter this won\u2019t be an easy task, but you can always place you drying rack in a\nwarm room and your clothes will eventually be dry.<\/p>

\u00b7 Steam instead of iron<\/strong>
When it comes to removing wrinkles there are mainly two ways of doing it: ironing\nand steaming, although, we always tend toward steaming. Steaming is the quickest\nand easiest way to remove wrinkles, what\u2019s more, the hot steam not only removes wrinkles but\nalso fights unpleasant odors and bacteria.
Steaming is also the best option for delicates such a silk, velvet, cupro and wool.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
